Discontinuation of Alabama Broadband Connectivity (ABC)

Monday, January 04, 2021
Attention Parents,
Please see announcement about discontinuation of Alabama Broadband Connectivity (ABC).
Dear Superintendents,
Thank you for your efforts to support the ABC for Students Program. With your help, the ABC for Students Program, administered by ADECA, connected over 200,000 low-income students in Alabama to broadband internet this fall. The program concludes on December 30, 2020.
Given the imminent conclusion of the ABC for Students Program, participating internet service providers are no longer able to redeem vouchers. Families who redeemed their vouchers will continue to receive service through December 30, 2020, at which time service will be automatically discontinued unless the family arranges otherwise with their service provider. Families will not need to take any action and will not be charged through December 30 for the internet service provided by ABC for Students.
We would appreciate your support to alert families in your district about the conclusion of the ABC for Students Program. Participating households will receive a letter in the mail from us in the coming weeks. The letter will provide information about the December 30 conclusion of the program, information about how to access options for low cost programs from internet service providers, and a link to a survey.
This information will also be made available online at For more direct access to low-cost internet programs, please visit and direct families to
As the ABC for Students program wraps up over the next few weeks, the program call center will remain open to help participating families to navigate their options. While the call center is still open until January 15, please encourage families to call 1-888-212-4998 with any questions or concerns.
Our best,
ABC for Students Communications Team
